Cargo Crew Rentals (PTY) LTD (“OneControl,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through the OneControl app and website, why we collect it, and how it’s protected.

 

Information We Collect

Account information: email address, name, and phone number (if provided), collected when you create an account.

Device information: the serial numbers, names, and custom labels of the security devices registered to your account, along with their live status (armed/disarmed, open/closed, battery level, signal strength) and activity history (e.g. gate opened, alarm armed, timestamps of these events).

Shared access information: if you grant another person access to a device, we collect their email address and the specific permissions you assign them.

Location (Bluetooth only): the app requests location permission because this is required by iOS and Android to enable Bluetooth communication with your devices when nearby — this is an operating system requirement for using Bluetooth, not something we choose. We do **not** track, store, or use your GPS location for any other purpose.

Push notification data: a device-specific push token, used solely to deliver notifications about your devices (gate activity, alarms, battery warnings) to your phone.

Subscription status: whether your account is on the free or Pro tier, and relevant billing/trial dates. Payment card details, where applicable, are handled directly by our payment processor and are never stored by us.

Diagnostic information: basic crash and performance data, collected automatically by Apple/Google’s standard app diagnostics tools, used only to identify and fix bugs.

 

How We Use This Information

We use the information above to:
– Operate your account and connected devices
– Deliver real-time status updates and push notifications
– Enable secure sharing of device access with people you choose
– Provide customer support
– Maintain and improve the reliability of the Service
– Meet legal and regulatory obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

 

Who We Share Information With

We share information only where necessary to operate the Service:
– Cloud infrastructure providers (Amazon Web Services) that host our servers and databases
– Push notification services (Apple, Google, and Expo’s push delivery service) to deliver notifications to your device
– Payment processors, for subscription or purchase transactions, where applicable
– Law enforcement or regulators, only where required by law

We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

 

Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections between the app and our servers, and access controls on our cloud infrastructure. No system is 100% secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

 

Data Retention

We retain your account and device information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or a device is removed, associated data is cleared or anonymized within a reasonable period, except where we’re required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes.

 

Your Rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and other applicable law, you have the right to:
– Access the personal information we hold about you
– Request correction of inaccurate information
– Request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements
– Withdraw consent for optional processing, where applicable
